At Engen Duncan, Theta Projects managed the replacement of aging fuel storage tanks with modern, high-capacity systems. The work involved careful coordination to safely remove the old tanks, install advanced replacements, and ensure all safety and regulatory standards were met. Theta Projects managed the Engen Duncan tank upgrade from decommissioning through to operational handover, coordinating the specialist contractors, safety requirements, testing and regulatory inspections that the works depended on.
The upgrade enhanced the station’s operational reliability, reduced environmental risks, and positioned the site for long-term success.

The existing storage tanks were decommissioned and safely removed, with degassing, cleaning, lifting and disposal coordinated to protect the site, the forecourt and the surrounding environment throughout the process.
New high-capacity double-walled tanks were installed for enhanced protection, with tank pit preparation, bedding, anchoring, backfill and reinstatement coordinated around the station’s operating requirements.
Safety and compliance checks were carried out through each stage of the works, covering excavation, hot-work controls, PPE requirements, site access and the industry regulations applicable to fuel storage installations.
Advanced leak detection was integrated with the new tanks and product lines, reducing environmental risk and giving the site continuous monitoring of the upgraded fuel storage installation.
Final regulatory inspections were coordinated with the relevant authorities and the client, with documentation prepared so the upgraded installation could be signed off against the required standards.
Thorough operational testing was performed before handover, including pressure testing, dispenser checks and system verification, so the station could return to trade with minimal downtime.
